Clare Primary School Easter Experience 2016
On Monday 21st March, the church hall played host to Clare Primary School and an opportunity to explore the Easter story together. Each class spent 30 minutes hearing the story of Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday, as retold by members of the Baptist Church. The story concluded with a very visual explanation of why we believe God sent Jesus into a world full of sin (represented by tins of beans, ketchup, mustard and anything gloopy) to rescue us.
Accompanying the story-telling were palm crosses, grapes, bread sticks, rice cakes, rusty and rustic nails and an awful lot of muck. Every one of the 173 children who came (and the staff) returned to school with a palm cross and a small chocolate Easter egg as a reminder of how we believe God sent Jesus as to give us new life through his death and resurrection. It was a great opportunity to present the Easter story in a way that they may never before have heard it told.
Grateful thanks to Colin and Helen for their story-telling prowess and to the staff and children of Clare Primary School for their attention and enthusiasm throughout the day.
